This workshop look at the outcomes required to effectively mentor people from a variety of ethnic, cultural, political, economic and religious backgrounds. This workshop covers the need to be aware and respectful of the values, beliefs, traditions and customs of people who may be mentored in a workplace, while understanding that there is often as wide a range of differences within groups as between them. We look at how our own cultural beliefs and customs may influence how we mentor others.
This workshop is applicable to any industry where a diverse workforce is present and where mentoring is key to retaining a diverse workforce. This includes improving the ability to control or change false beliefs, assumptions and stereotypes, to think in a flexible way and to find sources of information about different cultures to assist in the mentoring process.
